Family life isn’t always easy. Sometimes we could all benefit from connecting with others in similar situations to ourselves but this can be tough when you’re in a minority.

That’s why Intercom Trust have launched a new project – Family Pride Southwest – that aims to strengthen community and family networks with a combination of relaxed fun, opportunities to learn together, and extra support where needed.

Family Pride will help you make connections with other LGBT+ families. (An LGBT+ family may contain one or more parents who identify as LGBT+ and/or one or more children who identify as LGBT+).

Are you the parent/guardian of an LGBT+ young person? You are welcome to join our monthly group where you can share your experiences and find support from others in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

We are mainly parents offering peer support and learning together about issues facing our LGBT+ young people.

Currently we are meeting via Zoom.

If you’re a young person living in Somerset you may find that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning your sexuality or gender identity can be exciting as you discover who you are, it can also be a challenge or difficult.

Intercom is a lesbian gay bisexual and trans community resource in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Providing help against homophobic and transphobic prejudice, crime and discrimination (including bullying, harassment, abuse, attacks, and threatening behaviour), helping to develop the LGB/T communities, providing professional training and consultancy, and working in partnership with local government, the police, health.

Roast Dinners for gay guys who need company and to help them make new friends on the Sunday that follows the last Friday in the month.

The LGBT Collective is a facilitating body that connects lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities from across the South West peninsula. It lists local support groups.

MindLine Trans+ is a confidential  emotional, mental health support helpline and signposting service for people who identify as Trans, A Gender, Gender Fluid, Non-binary.

We provide a safe place to talk about your feelings confidentially. We don’t record calls nor ask for any personal details. Our listeners will try understand the multitude of feelings and concerns that may be going on for you. We are here to listen and offer our support.

Operating Mondays and Fridays from 8pm – midnight.
